LONGEVITY - Hony bee mystery protein

vitellogenin can be described as a freight train consisting of a locomotive and a carriage. The protein carries fat as its cargo, which it picks up in the bees' belly-fat cells - the main station. The vitellogenin "train" travels in the bee's blood and delivers the fat cargo at different local stops or stations.instead of starting the train journey from the fat cell main station, some vitellogenin molecules are divided in two, so the locomotive is separated from its cargo. The cargo cannot move without a locomotive and it stays in the fat cells, while the locomotive disappears. We soon realised that this is a typical behaviour for the vitellogenin molecule," scientists believed vitellogenin to be one entity, like a cargo ship, unable to separate from its cargo. Therefore, Havukainen's new discovery is a big step forward for research that aims to keep bees healthy and long lived."We figured out that vitellogenin can drop its fat cargo as a reaction to changing chemical conditions. How this "drop" occurs and which factor makes the locomotive move and leave its cargo are important questions in the protein world, and probably equally important to the bee,"

LONGEVITY - How to Live to be 100+ Dan Buettner - National Geografic, National Institute of Aging

'Your IKIGAI?' - what do you wake up in the morning for? What's your worth while?
'Are you eating good food?'
Okinawa Greetings

Dan Buettner tells us about the Blue Zones - where people live to be 100+:
Longevity is10% dictated by genes and 90% by life style
The human body has 35 Trillion cells that turn over evey 8 years

1.Exercise - Move naturally - none of them do heavy exercise - instead, they set up their lives that they are constantly nuddged into physical activity, sitting on the ground (Okinawa) and getting up 30-40 times a day, live in vertical houses (Sardinia), walking to the store, to the friends house, intense physical activities are things they enjoy, they have a garden, set up their lives to have the right outlook [pray (Sardinia), slow down for 15 minutes a day to reduce the inflamatory response of stress], they have a sense of purpose IKIGAI (Okinawa)]

2.Diet - has 2% impact - Eat wisely - Food is KUSUIMUN (medicine for life) they eat plant based diet, HARA HACHI BU (remember to stop eating, get full only 80%,eat from smaller plates), fruits and vegetables, lots of beans, nuts, fish, whole grains (durham wheat), cheese (high in fatty omega 3 Fatty Acids, made from grass fed animals milk), lean proteins, including soy, drink little wine (3 times more polyphenols - KANINA) each day, copious amounts of turmeric tea daily, sanpin tea / jasmine green tea

3.Connect to Loved ones first, Family, Children, aging parents, have MOAI (friends to travel through life), Belong to a faith based community (it adds 4-14 years if done 4 times a month), Belong to the right tribe (surround with the right people [hanging out with the wrong (negative) people (3 people - have impact up to 50%), of GUJAH (people who embrace change, adaptable, resilient) '.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-jk9ni4XWk&feature=player_embedded
Their Formula seems to be:
GUAJ, HARAHACHI BU,  IKIGAI, KANINA, KUSUIMUN, MOAI*
in short GU-HA-IK-KA-KU-MO
Cheers
Live Long in Moderation, With Purpose, Age well with Friends
_______________________________________________
* GUAJ (be adaptabil, resilient), HARAHACHI BU (eat small, 80% full),
IKIGAI (have life purpose), KANINA (drink little),
KUSUIMUN (food be thy medicine), MOAI (have friends for life)
