Staphysagria specifically acts as a prophylactic protecting against being stung by mosquitoes. If you're sensitive to being bitten by mosquitoes, take a dose every week during mosquito season as a prophylactic. If you know you're going to be outdoors -- especially in the woods -- take a dose before leaving. Taking Staphysagria after being bitten may reduce redness and itching at the site of the bite.

Ledum is used to antidote the effects of stinging insects such as mosquitoes. Take two to three doses over the first day or two immediately after being stung. Carry some with you in your pack if your going out into the woods. Simply open the container and sniff to take a dose

Apis is best used when the swelling is pronounced, ie. when there are welts or hives coming up around the site of the bite, or swelling of the part of the body that was bitten.
Use Ledum when the bite is painful, excessively itchy, showing some type of discolouration at the site of the bite, or other eruptions are occurring around the site of the bite (and seek medical assessment if it is a suspected spider bite).
With use of either remedy, repeat the administration of the dose every 15 minutes until pain and swelling goes down.
Another strategy is to combine Ledum, Arnica, and Apis (2pillules each thoroughly dissolved) in a glass of water and take a sip every 10mins until the pain and swelling diminishes.

mosquito bites that come up in welts/hive like swellings. My first remedy would be Ledum 30C, to be taken internally, immediately after the bite starts to swell. It may need to be repeated half hourly until the swelling diminishes altogether.
Not only for bites that result in swelling, Ledum is the best first aid remedy for any suspected insect bite, whether it be a mosquito, fierce ant or spider. It's a must for your first aid kit.

Aloe Vera – Aloe Vera plant possesses many medicinal properties, and is excellent when it comes to reduction of symptoms of insect bite. Put a little gel or leaf on place of the sting. It will not only reduce the itching, but it will also accelerate the healing process of the skin.
Garlic – Put little bit of fresh garlic on the site of the sting, hold it there for a few minutes until the itching stops, then wash the area with water.
Honey – Apply little bit of honey onto the affected area. Honey prevents infection and reduces itching and tingling sensation.
Lemon – Squeeze a little lemon or lime juice directly on the place of the bite. This way you will prevent the feeling of itching and tingling. Also you can rub zest on the sting area – the result will be the same.
Toothpaste – Peppermint in toothpaste cools the skin. Apply little toothpaste on the affected area and keep it there until it completely dries out, then wash with water.
Vinegar – The best one to use is apple cider vinegar. Soak a cotton wool in vinegar and put it in place of the bite. After few minutes you will feel relief.
